Celebrating a Bumper Set of GCSE Results

There was great success to be celebrated at Prior’s Field, as the students enjoyed a superb set of GCSE results, with 61% of all entries achieving grades 7-9 (A/A*) and 42% of all awards being the top grades of 8 or 9 (A*s).

Once again, the “Prior’s Field difference” was highlighted by an outstanding value-added score (the difference between expected grades, set by national assessments, and actual grades), with each student achieving on average over 6 grades in total on their collective grades, above their expected grades.

Among the excellent achievements across a wide range of subjects, 87% of all students in Chemistry achieved grades 7-9 (A/A*), whilst half of all students taking History achieved the highest possible grade of 9. Students in Drama achieved on average two grades above their expected grades, whilst both Music and History achieved over a grade and half above expected.

Individual success was celebrated with Blue and Harry achieving a maximum result of straight 9s in all subjects – an outstanding achievement.

April achieved 100% grades 8 and 9 (A*s) and will be going on to study History, English Literature, French and Economics in the Sixth Form at Prior’s Field. Her History teacher, Sam Garvey, Assistant Head Co-Curriculum and Sixth Form commented:

“April’s superb grades are a result of her dedication and hard work over the last two years and I am delighted for her. Having seen her genuine love of learning in the classroom over the course of her History GCSE, I am so pleased she has chosen to continue with the subject here at A Level, alongside three other fantastic subjects, and she has an exciting two years ahead!”

April will be joined by Constance and Izzy, who both achieved 100% grades 7 to 9, with Constance studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths, whilst Izzy will be studying Physics, Maths and Music.

Olivia celebrated her phenomenal success in achieving on average two grades higher in each of her subjects than was expected, and will be going on to study Drama, History and Psychology at Prior’s Field Sixth Form. Head of Drama, Penny Horton commented:

“I’m delighted for Olivia, who has completely aced every single component from performance through to the written piece, on top of doing brilliantly in the productions this year as well. I’m thrilled she did so well across all her subjects and I’m obviously excited that she will continue to study Drama here at Prior’s Field, whilst taken a lead part in our production next term.”

Commenting on this year’s success, Prior’s Field Head, Ms Zoe Ireland, expressed her great pride in the girls: “What an achievement by our GCSE students this year and we could not be more proud that their hard work and endeavor has been rewarded. It is particularly pleasing to see the level of achievement by all students, with the value-added scores once again outstanding. I would like to thank our dedicated teaching staff for their fantastic support and look forward to the girls continued achievements in the Sixth Form.”
