Academic Enrichment and Scholars

At Prior’s Field we encourage all our students to strive for academic excellence. We nurture a curiosity and love of learning beyond the classroom.

Huxley Programme

The Huxley Programme provides all students with opportunities to foster their individual academic interests beyond the taught curriculum through academic clubs, competitions and talks throughout the year. Examples of Huxley Programme clubs range from Model United Nations, Debating, STEM Challenge and Chess to Mandarin and Creative writing. Annual internal competitions such as the ‘Huxley Essay’ provide students with the opportunity to independently explore areas of their own academic interests in an extended project. Students also have opportunity to enter external competitions such as the annual SATRO problem solving challenge. Additionally, subject departments offer a range of academic enrichment lectures and events throughout the year.

Academic Scholars Programme

All of our Academic Scholars become part of the Academic Scholar Programme. Each Scholar attends a termly seminar group and is allocated a personal academic mentor from a subject discipline of their choosing to guide their individual interests. Scholars are expected to be ambassadors for academic ambition across the school and to be regular key participants in the Huxley Programme.
