Watts Gallery Exhibition: Celebrating Women of Influence

We are delighted to announce that the first external Prior’s Field Art Exhibition will be presented at Watts Gallery, celebrating the inspiring theme of Women of Influence.

Over recent weeks, students from across the school have created and submitted an impressive range of artwork in response to this inspiring brief. Working across art, photography and textiles, students have explored the meaning of “influence” through the lens of female empowerment. Some pieces pay tribute to women in their own lives – mothers, grandmothers, siblings, teachers and mentors – whose quiet strength and encouragement shape their everyday experiences. Others reflect on the achievements of public figures whose courage, leadership and creativity have made a lasting and positive impact on society.

The standard of submissions has been exceptional. Following careful selection, a collection of thoughtful, imaginative and deeply personal works has been chosen for exhibition. The diversity of interpretation and the maturity of reflection on display are a testament to the creativity and insight of our students. The project not only celebrates influential women but also highlights the confidence, artistic skill and individuality of the young people within our school community.

This exhibition is closely aligned with our school’s ethos and heritage, championing ambition, resilience and the importance of strong female role models. It also reflects the pioneering legacy of Julia Huxley, who established Prior’s Field in 1902 with a vision of creating a progressive school that nurtures talent, fosters independence of thought and encourages girls to embrace life with confidence and curiosity. Her bold spirit and belief in the potential of young women continue to shape our values today, influencing everything from our curriculum to the way we support each student to thrive personally and academically. The exhibition will be a celebration not only of the women who inspire us, but also of the voices and perspectives of the next generation.

The exhibition will be presented from the 25th of March to the 21st of April, and we warmly invite parents, friends and members of the wider community to attend and support our students. We very much look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a moving and uplifting celebration of creativity and influence.
