Music at Prior’s Field School
Music is at the heart of life at Prior’s Field. Expert teaching, an extensive range of instruments, dedicated practice rooms, a recital hall and music technology within the curriculum give every girl the opportunity to develop her musical interests and talents.
Beyond the classroom, a lively programme of lunchtime activities and after-school clubs, including Choir, A Cappella and Band Club, ensures that music can be heard and enjoyed across the school every day.
GCSE Music Results
Music did exceptionally well for 2026, with 50% achieving Grades 9–8 and 90% achieving Grades 9–7.
Head of Music, Mr Pratt said:
It’s wonderful to see how well the music students have fared in their GCSE. Music GCSE expects candidates to be not only confident and accomplished performers with an aptitude for creative and developmental composition, but also coherent essay writers who can retain facts across a broad range of set works. Music dictation is not that easy, either. With 50% 9-8 grades, and 90% 9-7 grades, we are delighted with this year’s results, and wish to congratulate this 2026 music cohort on their hard work.
A Level and beyond.
It was also an incredible year for music A level results and acceptance into following higher education pathways.
